Media Use

When someone mention about media, I will imagine television, radio, and newspaper as the source to delivers information to public. It’s the way to influence people in large scale with immediate rate. Nowadays, people use digital media like internet to receive news rather than watching television or reading newspaper.

I, myself rather use internet to gather all information that I needs. If I want to compare speed of which type of media that deliver news faster within a day, I will say internet. Just a few clicks and bam! You can post information in like one minute. Furthermore, that within one minute the whole world will know what is happening.

Before, you can only browse internet through your computer and laptop. Now, you can browse internet inside your mobile phone, as long as you receive Wi-Fi in your area or have a Tri-Band 3G services and network.

Sites like Facebook and Twitter is the two examples of where people can easily delivers and receives information.  Twitter can make a news trending base on location and who you follow. While Facebook offers sharing options with your friends in their news timeline.

I am not converting people should use digital media instead of analog media. Sometimes people will have to rely on radio while driving to know the traffic situation especially in the morning during school days. For me, I use radio to find 80’s and 90’s songs or listening to any new songs. People who do not have internet at home will have to use newspaper to find job advertisements or shopping sale hour during festive seasons. Furthermore, reading newspaper can extend a person vocabulary and enhance their language knowledge. I am not a television person but I do find television can increase the bonds between family members. Me and my sister does not like sport but we still enjoy gathering in front of television with my parents and brothers.

Mobile phone is also a media. Today, mobile phone is not only able to make long distance calls, but also able to send text messages and photos as long as the other receiver phone supports the media. I rarely make a phone call but I do find text messages to be helpful since they can be precise and the person who receive my message will sure understand it without fail.

Without media, I pretty sure that I unable to survive without knowing what is happening around me. Although I am fine without television, radio or newspaper but I only can stand for a week without internet.
